The APEO content of the consignment reached 2500mg/kg, nearly 3 times that of the EU standard, and the number of returned shirts was 12300, which amounted to 60 thousand euros.

A non absorbent cotton company in Henan exported Southeast China's defatted sanitary cotton to the Southeast Asia. It also detected a large number of APEO components from the absorbent cotton. It was forced to return by the customs. The returned sanitary cotton was sold in the domestic market because of the sale of APEO. Finally, it was replaced by toy stuffing.

These enterprises later inspected each processing program and found that all the materials used were fatty acid methyl ester ethoxylated FMEE, which caused APEO to exceed the standard.

According to the relevant information, FMEE for industrial use is based on mixed methyl esters as raw materials, and inevitably contains nonylphenol APEO. Especially after the incomplete distillation process, a large amount of nonylphenol APEO will be left. Therefore, textile enterprises should be careful to use fatty acid methyl ester ethoxylated FMEE as raw material for pretreatment.
