Anti-Dumping

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Customs announced yesterday that two mainland footwear exporters would be subject to anti-dumping duties of 43.46% from the date of their violation of commitments, until the 101 March 15th of the Republic of China.

According to the United Daily, the Ministry of finance also cancelled anti-dumping duties on Portland cement imported from Philippines and Korea.

Su Shuzhen, a special commissioner for "Guan Zheng Si", said that when the Ministry of Finance recently checked the anti-dumping duties related data of 48 Chinese export footwear manufacturers, it found that "GRAND GOLDEN ENTER-PRISE LIMITED" and "SIX-TY FAR EAST LTD." had violated their commitments and did not provide relevant data on the price of footwear imported from Taiwan to "not lower than the fixed price". Therefore, they decided to levy an anti-dumping duty of 43.46% on the two industries, from 96 March 16th to 101 March 15th.

As for whether these two companies have imported shoes for sale in Taiwan?

Because the manufacturers do not provide data, the Ministry of finance is not clear at the moment.

Su Shuzhen also said that "Guan Zheng Si" also found out that there was a furniture price maker, and that the importing shoes and boots came to Taiwan with suspicion of high price and low reporting. He was suspected of escaping from customs duties. "Guan Zheng" had asked the customs to pfer the case to the IRS.

Taiwan officials said that compared with the same period last year, the average import prices of footwear on the mainland increased by 18%, indicating that after the anti-dumping duties were imposed, the number of goods imported to Taiwan decreased significantly, and anti-dumping measures had substantial benefits.

In addition, Su Shuzhen said that the I and II type Portland cement and its clinker imported from Philippine and Korea were subject to anti-dumping cases. The industry applied for anti-dumping duties in January last year. However, the Ministry of economic affairs did not consider it necessary to re levy taxes, so the anti-dumping duty was suspended from May 5th.
